London: Hollywood hunk Johnny Depp has revealed that legendary actor James Dean inspired him to act.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor toyed with the idea of becoming a musician before taking a plunge into Hollywood. However, the Fifties legend convinced him to change careers. Johnny told Radio 2 that he has been a huge fan of James Dean since he was young, when he was influenced by the 'Fifties stuff', wearing 'big hair, jeans and biker jackets'.
"I started out as a guitarist in the early Eighties. I hooked up with a guy who idolised James Dean and he gave me a copy of the Dean biography, The Mutant King, which I thought was really interesting," he was quoted by the Sun, as saying.
"While reading the book, I watched Rebel Without A Cause, and I thought, 'Wow, this guy really has something', and I was hooked.
"I wasn't really into acting at the time - but James Dean was the catalyst," he added.

My journalism teacher told me about this. We are doing a thirty minute radio show and she was showing us all kinds of different shows for example a specialist show and she put the Johnny Depp one on for an example. She said 'Johnny Depp presented this.' So I said 'who?' and she said 'Johnny Depp' so I was like.... 'Johnny Depp the actor?' and she said 'yeh the actor' so she played a bit and it was definetly him! I looked from me friend to the teacher and back again and then said 'OMG WAHT IS THE WEBSITE?' so she told me and then I put my headphones in and had a little listen. My teacher is quite young so she didn't mind and I kept saying 'oh my god thanks so much for telling me. thankyou thankyou thankyou' and then she said 'it's ok. I have a friend who likes just like him he is gorgeous...' :O I said I'd like to meet him and then my teacher reminded me I'm engaged ... hehe.-x-
